The City of Riverside is considering the adoption of a Long Beach-style ordinance. The Land Use Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday May 8th at 1:00 PM at the Art Pick Council Chamber, Riverside City Hall.
The agenda for the May 8th meeting includes breeder licensing and a proposal for a retail pet sales ban. Public comment will follow the staff presentation. Those wishing to comment will need to fill out a "speaker card" and present it to the city clerk prior to the start of the meeting.
This is our chance to stop the licensing of breeders even before an ordinance is drafted. Each individual will be allowed 3 minutes. In the past, individuals have been permitted to transfer their time to another speaker. Our plan is to assign a part of our talking points/arguments to each speaker so that we cover all of our items. We will meet outside the council chamber at 12:00 noon to organize our presentations.
Please contact Terry @ Riversideleg@aol.com if you plan to attend the meeting and if you would like to speak.
Residents are also encouraged to contact the City Council Members serving on the Utility Services/Land Use/Energy Development Committee to express their concerns. Members of the committee include:
